MIA WIPs n FOs

Am I witty or what? No pictures this time, but there will be, in the very near future, a FO picture, a WIP picture, and yes, my first ever swatch picture. I know you all will be waiting with bated breath.

I think I officially get the "Worst Mother of the Year" award. At Banana's school, Halloween is feted for pretty much the entire month of October. And so today AND tomorrow, there was/will be a Halloween parade, replete with songs that have to do with bats, witches, jack o-lanterns, and all sorts of things. And guess who forgot to send the aforementioned daughter to the aforementioned school with a costume? Yep, that would be me. So guess who had to duck out of work, drive home at highly illegal speeds, grab the purple ballerina costume, and drive once again at highly illegal speeds to the aforementioned school so that the Banana could march proudly with her classmates around the parking lot? If you said me, you are indeed correct. Ugh. To reduce the stress, I ate two danishes (dani?) and a doughnut in record time. Then I felt gross. What a day. However, tomorrow will be better because:

1. I am taking a healthy lunch to work - no danishes (dani?)!
2. Banana's costume is at school - can't forget it tomorrow!
3. I get to go to Liz's house and knit tomorrow!
4. Sit n Knit is on Wednesday night!
5. !

I'm going to bed now. My clock says it is 9:04, but my brain and body say it is 10:04. Damn Benjamin Franklin and his Daylight Savings Time.

Thanks for stopping by.

Knittin' friends

Since Montco Sit - n - Knit's founder and fearless leader is vacationing this week, I decided to host the festivities at my house. And boy am I glad I did. I had a roaring good time, as I hope my guests did.

Here's Beverly, making a gorgeous scarf.

Maria was working on a beautiful feather and fan baby blanket.

Aileen got out of work late and didn't bring knitting, but that's okay, we just talked about knitting a lot. :o)

MJ has been working on this pretty baby sweater, and it's really starting to come together!

Liz was working on socks (I'm shocked!) in a lovely yarn (as usual).

Sharon was knitting up a stripey square for Warm Up America. Lovely!

Debbie brought several pairs of lovely socks to work on as well.

Krista was doing a needlepoint project for her mom for Christmas.

Christiane was needlepointing? needling? cute penguins on a towel.

And last but not least, my most favorite picture of all. Rosebud and Banana snuggling together. How cute is that?

I do so love my knitting group. It's like group therapy for free.

Hangin' up the needles for a while

Yes, you read that right. I am certainly better at knitting than I used to be, but as of late, knitting has become more frustrating than pleasurable. I'm one of those silly people that wants to be perfect at any project I attempt on the first try, and after 33 years, I still have yet to learn that this is rarely an attainable goal. The most frustrating thing is that I know how to read the patterns, I know how it should look, I know how to do the stitches. So why does it look so crappy?!? Poopies.

So back to the hook I go. Crocheting is a little harder on my wrists, but I love it for baby things, and pretty much all of the women that I work with are pregnant, so I'll be hooking sweaters, blankets, booties, hats, and more. Yay. And I got a back issue of Interweave Crochet that has some nice projects in it, so hopefully I'll be able to bang out a few Chrismahanukwanzakah presents too. I hope I hope.

On the bright side, the school that I work at did not strike, which is good. Many of the people I work with are one-income families (theirs) and many have new babies, so this is good for them. Although I was so darn tired this morning that my first thought was, "God, I can't wait to go to bed tonight." So I came home and slept for two hours. Which is really smart. Cuz it'll make it so easy to go to sleep early tonight. Oh well.

Time to go bathe Banana. She is covered in ice cream and peanut butter. She's like a dessert right now. Or something. Thanks for stopping by.

The poncho's back, and I'm gonna be in trouble...

Hey la, hey la, the poncho's back! Waaaaaaaaaaah. My co-worker liked what I did with it, and she asked me to finish it. Waaaaaaaaaah. I don't like the poncho. But I gots to keep my word. I guess.

Here's my car!!

Isn't it cute?

I've been super-busy creating... jack o'lanterns.

Banana insisted on a family of jack o'lanterns, and who am I to resist? So on the left is Dad, in the middle is Banana, and of course, I am on the right, the one with the lips and eyelashes.
I've discovered that if you leave your child alone with access to watercolors, you may soon hear, "Mom, can you help me clean up?", and see this:

At least she's creative, right?
Last, but not least, I am working on some projects. I have cast on for a simple lace shawl, have made an iota of progress on the Matador, have half of a dishtowel done, and stuff like that. One of these days I'll post pictures of it all. Promise.
As usual, thanks for stopping by.

Bat mitzvahs, ponchos, and cars

Bet that got your attention. I know I haven't posted in a while, it's been a crazy week. Today I attended my very first bat mitzvah - that of Beverly, the daughter of my boss Debi. She did an awesome job, and I am amazed at her ability to read/chant Hebrew. Wow. I am also looking forward to the party tonight. :o)

Remember the poncho that would not end? Well, it's out of my hands now! My co-worker asked for it back, done or not. She was very gracious about it. So now I don't have to worry about it. I need to get back to the Matador. I think I'll use a lifeline on each raglan row that I do correctly, so that I can at least only frog back a row or two and not the whole thing.

Last, but not least, I got a new car!! It is so darn cute. For the past four years, I have been driving a large SUV. It was paid for, and it was reliable, but it was soooo not me. Now I have a silver Mazda 3 hatchback, stick shift, and that, my friends, is me. Pictures to come.

Sorry for the poverty of fiber content. I promise there will some posted in the near future. Thanks for stopping by, and mazel tov!
